Welland Canal Bridge Status App

If you live in Niagara, you know what getting stuck behind a raised Welland Canal bridge feels like: not good.

There are a handful of “bridge status” sites & apps out there — including the Seaway’s own webpage, which provides the status data for each bridge — but they’re not great. In my opinion they lack a good, mobile-optimized user-experience and they’re a pain to use in a pinch, which is exactly when you need them.

This web app is my attempt at solving this problem. It is designed to let you know at a quick glance which bridges are available and which ones are not, and it will show you if a bridge is about to go up, so you can plan ahead.

It’s a simple web app, so there’s nothing to install — just keep it on your home screen for quick access. Check it out here.
